Seeking the best obtainable version of the truth in DIY.
If you follow Project Lab, whether here on the blog or on my channel on YouTube, you’re going to see videos on woodworking, wrenching, welding, restoration, digital fabrication, and more – I cover lots of stuff. Some people might prefer that I cover just one of those things. But none of them really are the point. The point actually is to find the best obtainable version of the truth in DIY.
That’s because when when I was a kid, the prevailing wisdom seemed to be that it was stupid to try to do things yourself. It was always cheaper to pay someone else when you factored in your time. And besides, unless you started young with a skill, you’d never be able to catch up, so why even try.
But I think over time, things like the internet and youtube have helped people realize that that attitude is at best pessimistic. At worst, it’s flat out wrong.
So that’s what Project Lab is about. Watching me tackle DIY topics and hearing whether they’re worth doing.
As always, thanks for being here!
